After A Rough Phase, This Crossing Guard Was Surprised In The Most Special Way By His Community
When you live in a community, all the people around you become family after a while. You share the joy as well as the pain with each other. One such community that resides with love is that of Winston-Salem in North Carolina.
There are days when the sun shines brightly in everyone’s life but then there are some gloomy days as well. The people of Winston-Salem did something really sweet when one of the members of the community was going through a hard time.
This member is a crossing guard, Wallace Peoples, and has been working in Winston-Salem, NC long enough for people to know him really well. He is great at his work and people observe him every day while dropping their kids to school.
The importance of crossing guards is known to one and all, even though we might forget it at times. But we take this opportunity to acknowledge their work and dedication to it! You are safe on the roads while driving because of these crossing guards.
The 63-year-old Wallace Peoples serves his duty as a crossing guard for Sherwood Forest Elementary school. There is not a single person who doesn’t appreciate the work he does and everyone respects him with all their heart.
One mom in the community couldn’t stop saying nice things about Mr. Peoples. She said, “You can tell he loves what he does. He’s such a wonderful man. And when he’s missing, everyone knows it.”
Is it just affecting us or this makes you emotional as well? If you are someone who cries at the drop of a hat, you are mostly like to be in tears after reading this adorable story.
Mr. Peoples was not showing up regularly at work in December. His absence was noticed by all in that community. They were sure that something was wrong as he was dedicated to his job and did not skip work unless there was some emergency.
It turns out that Mr. Peoples car had broken down and if that wasn’t enough trouble, he had to spend the Christmas Eve at the hospital. We just pray that no one has to encounter such hardships ever in their lifetime! But some things are just meant to happen as this tough phase in Wallace Peoples’ life.

When people of Winston-Salem came to know about his struggles, they did not think twice before making a decision of helping him in whatever way they can. The first step towards this kind gesture was made by Sloane Johnson who made everyone aware of the whole situation of Mr. Peoples.
Just two hours in and $800 were raised along with a car which was donated by a parent. Isn’t this just incredible! This money and car are just a small fraction of the love that this community has for Mr. Peoples. Did you notice that even his name suggests how he is a “Peoples’ favorite”? We apologize if this makes no sense!
Coming back to the point, Mr. Peoples was beyond grateful for his community and could not thank them enough. They showed me so much love, and I don’t take it lightly because love is not easy to come by.” He even expressed that one of the best feelings is when you know that people care about you. We agree, Mr. Peoples, we do!
Now, it’s your turn to spread some love in this world and we assure that even the smallest of sweet gestures are enough to make this world a better place.
